3 Reasons to Hire a Wedding Planner: Rain, Wind, Power Outage
Anyone who’s ever seen “The Wedding Planner” loves to taunt those of us who handle weddings at the winery by asking, “Do you work in high heels and a fancy dress?” Our answer, “Heck no!” Others pose the question, “Do you wear a walkie-talkie headset?” To which we answer, “Well, sometimes, if that’s what it takes.” Our job is to be the executor of our client’s dream day, something they have envisioned for years, if not most of their lives. Talk about pressure!
Unless you’ve worked in this industry, you think of weddings as being these fun, glamorous events, which they are, of course, but . . . there are a LOT of details behind the scenes that make a wedding picture perfect. Even when all the groundwork has been expertly laid out, you can never plan for the unexpected. But expect it! Whether small or large in scale, it’s bound to happen.
Take, for example, Ashley and Kenny’s story. They chose the last Saturday in August for their Woodinville wine country wedding date, sure to be a safe bet for some Seattle summer sun, right? Not quite. The region was hit with a huge wind and rainstorm that knocked out power mere hours before their ceremony. With a meal for 100 guests still needing to be cooked and set up not yet completed, what’s a couple to do? Relax and let the wedding planner handle it!
Our team jumped into action quickly, hooking up a generator to power the kitchen appliances and calling in our dear friends at Wave Link Music to handle elegant emergency up lighting. The power ended up coming back on moments before the ceremony, of course, and the rest of the evening went off without a hitch, despite the weather’s best attempt to damper our spirits.
Would you have any idea this all went down by looking at these beautiful photos? With the right planners and vendors by your side, you too can have the perfect day (and we’ll keep the behind-the-scenes details to ourselves)!
